the romney thesis is that the economy was getting worse. it was obama's fault, and romney was mr. fix-it. and in each of those tenets it seemed to me they have gone out the window. i think obama will start asking where is the beef. the numbers are very clear about the economic turnaround since he's been president. he has an economic jobs recovery act now which by everybody's reckoning would create somewhere between 1 million and 2 million jobs. on the other hand, you have romney who has no economic plan whatsoever other than to say i want to cut taxes below the 15% ofg dp that they are right now, and then the other night he says, well, i don't want to actually cut the actual tax rate, i want to cut rates and then i want to increase deductions and give us effectively the same amount of taxes coming into the economy which leaves him with an unutterly incoherent record. with romney you have nothing and i think the message you will start hearing next week is going back to that old mondale commercial, where is the beef, show us the beef, because there ain't none there. >> john, before

now, mr. romney wants another 5 trillion dollars in tax cuts that he can't pay for. we're not going to let that happen. we are not going to fall backward, not with so much at stake. >> reporter: governor romney answering in the ad wars, as well. a new ad featuring melanie mack that mara that voted for president obama back in 2008. this time around she says she is going to vote for mitt romney. one of the views from the obama campaign, they had an amazing fund-raising month, $181 million raised. that a little bit less than what they raised in september 2008 but it does bring them closer that billion dollar mark in fund-raising for the year. >> gregg: john roberts live in apopka, florida. thanks very much. >> heather: expectations high for round two of the presidential debate. the issue of yesterday's jobs report is already being eyed as the big topic. u.s. unemployment falling to 7.8% in september. that is the first time that it's been below 8% in nearly four years. so what is the political impact of all of this with exactly one month until election day. shane is edit

as long as governor romney addresses the president with mr. president, your policies have failed the american people. i think as long as he carries a respectful tone. he needs to be what i would say as passionately aggressive. he is respectful of the president yet he is passionate about making the case it's the president's policies that have failed americans and caused economy to be worse than what it was when he took office. >> i may be the only television host that debated romney. we will talk more right after the break. joyce myer will talk about the power of words. stay with us, we'll be right back. well, if it isn't mr. margin. mr. margin? don't be modest, bob. you found a better way to pack a bowling ball. that was ups. and who called ups? you did, bob. i just asked a question. it takes a long time to pack a bowling ball. the last guy pitched more ball packers. but you... you consulted ups. you fod a better way. that's logistics. that's margin. find out what else ups knows. i'll do that. you're on a roll. that's funny. i wasn't being fun

don'tt know how you figure out what mr. romney so eloquently said in that debate. talking about politics of the 1% or the 47%, conservatives want the best for all folks, and yes, we mean we don't want them trapped in poverty. we want them married, paying their taxes -- host: we will get katrina vanden heuvel's response. guest: yeah. listen, if marriage will promote the well-being of the couple, children, great. but in my mind, it is and not just that. that is too simplistic. it is part of the equation. without good jobs, without ensuring that workers have rights at a time when big business is so powerful, without doing small things that happened around this country but have taken too much effort, giving women, families early child care, the sense of a community coming together to lift up families, marriage is not sufficient. to reduce it to that is too simplistic. no one is saying marriage isn't important. it is not the only a factor in building a family that is doing well. the fact that jobs to date are low-paying is a terrible problem, and i would link this to th
